Certification is a public statement, backed by an independent body, that a product, process or organisation meets a defined standard. We assess, certify and then keep watching, because a certificate is only worth something if the conditions behind it continue to be met. Every certificate we issue can be verified on this website.

The certification cycle
An initial assessment establishes whether your system or product meets the standard. Any findings are documented and you are given time to correct them before a certificate is issued. Surveillance visits then follow at agreed intervals, with a full reassessment at the end of each cycle.
Certification decisions are made by people who were not involved in the assessment. This separation is a core requirement of accredited certification and one of the reasons a third-party certificate carries weight.
Protecting the value of your certificate
Certificates are targets for misuse. We maintain a register of every certificate we issue, its scope and its current status, and we make it available through our online verification tool. Certificates that are suspended or withdrawn are marked as such, so a copy that looks genuine cannot be passed off as valid.
If you receive a certificate that claims to have been issued by us and want it checked, our document verification team will confirm whether it is authentic.
